My name is Brian Lowe and I'm 42 years old. I reside in Acworth, Georgia, which is about twenty miles north of the city of Atlanta. I live in a great spot for several reasons....five minutes into my bike ride or run just outside of my neighborhood and I'm on a bridge over I-75 and can look north and see the beautiful north Georgia mountains. When I look south, i can't see ATL's impressive skyline but it is not far away. I am so thankful to be here.
This first post doesn't have a lot of direction and that is somewhat the point of why I'm choosing to write and post. I'm going to lay out some history just to perhaps lay a foundation to build on.
I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I lived in Solon but my memorable childhood years in Iowa are from our time in Ely (pronounced EEL-E). This is an interesting exercise because over the last year I have become much more enamored with the Here & Now. I used to be one that was often looking back in the past, which I don' think always serves a person well. It is much more fulfilling to live in the present moment, in mindfulness of the Here & Now, rather than letting the mind go wild with worries and anxieties of the past and future.
......with all that being said...for the sake of this blog post, I do need to dip into the past. This blog isn't for anyone. This blog is for everyone. This blog is for me. It is therapeutic..and if a side-effect is helping with my website SEO, then great!
I loved living in Ely, where I went to Prairie Elementary from Kindergarten to third grade. I have so many fond memories of that time. It is also easy to line up my grade years with the 1990's so here we go...In first grade, (spring) it would be 1991, 2nd, 1992, 3rd, 1993 etc. Right after the school year ended in 1993 our family moved from Iowa to Georgia. I can remember driving by Mitchell's house with the slip and slide in their yard and me, my mom and my sister drove away toward a new life.
My dad got a great job at IBM in Atlanta and I was lucky enough to live in the Brookstone Three development in Acworth during the mid 90's, which was an incredible time to be alive. More to come...
